American Pharmacists Association was founded on October 6, 1852. APhA members include pharmacists, pharmaceutical scientists, student pharmacists, and pharmacy technicians. APhA represents more than 62,000 people that are interested in advancing the profession. As students we belong to the APhA Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP). APhA-ASP is the organization to be in as a student pharmacist. As one of the three academies of APhA, APhA-ASP is more than 34, 000 students strong, making it the largest national student pharmacist group in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. This organization does not represent only one niche in the pharmacy world, but represents all pharmacists. This organization allows you to hone your leadership skills, network, advance patient care through policy, and much more. The thing that makes APhA so unique is that not only does it have a student academy, but there are academies for pharmacists as well. Once you join APhA, it is your family for life.
