Women’s Health Campaign is one of the newest national initiatives aimed to raise awareness of common cancers such as breast, ovarian, and cervical cancers. They also aim to promote the role of the pharmacist in a woman’s reproductive health, pregnancy, contraception, and improve the well-being and health of the female population.

September 8, 2020 - Tea & Teal
KE and APhA-ASP Women's Health Initiative put held an ovarian cancer awareness seminar with guest speaker Dr. Smith in honor of September being Ovarian Cancer Awareness month. Dr. Smith talked about the importance of continued screening, continued research for more effective medications, and increased knowledge of how prevalent and deadly this cancer is.

April 23, 2020 - Women's Reproductive Health Seminar
Women's Health Initiative in collaboration with SNPhA invited an experienced gynecological prescriber to discuss her experiences with Women's Reproductive Health issues and services provided in underserved communities.
February 18, 2020 - Women's Health Seminar
The Women’s Health Initiative invited a clinical pharmacist to present her experience in helping to pharmacologically treat and counsel women on conditions and stages of life specific to women including menopause, gynecological cancers, and pregnancy health care. Our guest pharmacist also expressed the challenges and changes that have affected healthcare for women over the past several years and what she expects with future healthcare laws and regulations.
February 10, 2020 - Women's Heart Health Infographic Post
The UHCOP APhA-ASP Facebook featured a post for American Heart Month. The infographic highlighted common myths about heart disease in women, and how women can present heart attacks differently.
February 8, 2020 - “A Healthy Heart - You Can't Beat It” Health Fair
Women's Health in collaboration with SCCP and SNPhA educated the community about the importance of having good heart health. Women's Health contributed a Women's Heart Health Spin-the-Wheel game and prizes to create a fun and interactive learning experience for the community.
February 1, 2020 - Women's Heart Health game booth at Heart Hustle 5K
Operation Heart hosted a 5K for American Heart Month. University of Houston students, faculty, and peers came out to the event. The Women's Health Initiative set up a booth at the event that included a Women's Heart Health game. Participants won prizes and learned differences in women with heart disease as well as prevalence.
January 21, 2020 - Birth Defect Prevention Post
The UHCOP APhA-ASP Facebook featured a post for Birth Defect Prevention Month. The infographic promoted healthy practices to prevent birth defects, and harmful habits that should be avoided.
October 30, 2019 - Breast Cancer Awareness Ribbon Picture
Women's Health Initiative took a breast cancer awareness picture with all participants wearing pink and standing in the shape of a ribbon.
October 26, 2019 - Katy Christian Ministries Flu Clinic
Women's Health Initiative collaborated with SNPhA to volunteer at a flu clinic that was sponsored by Randall's in order to provide free (donated) flu shots to the Katy Community. There was initially supposed to be bone density and blood pressure screenings as well, however, due to the location change to outside and the weather, only flu shots were administered.
October 11, 2019 - HPV Tabeling Event
Collaborated with Operation Immunization to provide education to UH students about HPV.
October 9, 2019 - Human Trafficking & Healthcare Professionals Seminar
IPSF and Women's Health collaborated to bring an agent from United Against Human Trafficking to talk to the UHCOP students about the signs and red flags of human trafficking that we should recognize as health care professionals.
October 3, 2019 - Pink Lemonade Stand
The Women's Health Initiative created a pink lemonade stand with cookies and promotional pink ribbon pins to raise money for the Silk Rose which helps women get free mammograms and screenings for breast cancer. In total we raised $76 to donate to the organization, while also spreading awareness and information about breast cancer with an educational breast cancer poster.

Women's Health Initiative collaborated with KE to host a breast cancer awareness dinner where two breast cancer survivors gave their testimonies.
October 2, 2019 - Breast Cancer Awareness Post
The UHCOP APhA-ASP Facebook featured a post for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The infographic included prevalence data and prevention methods for breast cancer to promote awareness and education on the topic.
September 29, 2019 - BMD Screenings at Windwood Presbyterian Church Flu Clinic
APhA-ASP officers worked together to take bone density measurements on community members and counsel them on their results. Handouts were offered as well on prevention techniques and bone health. Officers also assisted with paperwork and preparing flu vaccines for the Flu Clinic portion.
September 28, 2019 - Ryde for a Reason
APhA-ASP members promoted and attended the RYDE for a Reason fundraising spin class to help raise money for United Against Human Trafficking.
September 24, 2019 - Tea And Teal
Student pharmacists gathered to learn from a clinical pharmacist that specializes in ovarian cancer research and patients. She educated on ovarian cancer and current treatments in order to promote awareness and the pharmacists role in care. Attendees were given teal mugs and ribbons to further spread awareness.
September 6, 2019 - Gynecological Cancer Awareness Month Post
The UHCOP APhA-ASP Facebook featured a post for Gynecological Cancer Awareness Month. The informational flyer covered various symptoms to look out for for different gynecological cancers including cervical, ovarian, uterine, vaginal, and vulvar cancers. It also highlighted the prevalence of gynecological cancers, and how well-women exams can help detect them.

Generation Rx educated P1 students about our operation to gather interest in joining our committee. We discussed previous events we have held and discussed our plans and goals for the future.
August 3, 2019 - Mayor's Back to School Festival
Educated kids on good and acceptable hygiene habits as well as handed out charts to help kids keep track of their morning and nightly hygiene routines.
June 16, 2019 - Men's Health Month Poster
In honor of men's health month, a poster was put together full of facts and statistics about Men's health. The topics include most common causes of death, common cancers, Parkinson's disease, and HIV.
